I’m Elizabeth, and I live in coastal South Carolina.  I’m mommy to a little boy, Liam, born in 2009.  He has acid reflux and is intolerant to milk and soy, which is about 80% of what keeps me up at night.  I also work part-time (I’m an accountant) and I have a ridiculously long commute.  Back before I was all of those things, I majored in psychology and spent one year in graduate school for social work before deciding that I really wanted to focus on being mommy.

I’m new to this whole mommy thing and am writing to help myself understand what it’s all about.  I write about normal mom issues like balancing parenthood with marriage and work, and also about having a child with health problems and issues raised in my parenting by my own abusive childhood.

Having said all that, my son and I are not defined by the things that are wrong in our lives (or our pasts) and I would not be here at all if I did not believe that I have a lot to learn (as well as a lot to offer) from my experiences.

Please take  a look at some of my best posts: on parenting, on marriage and on domestic violence
